The last year positively flew by - I can hardly believe that our baby is already a year old! Jasper's growing more independent every day, working on the whole walking thing, flirting shamelessly with any pretty girl who looks his way, wrestling non-stop with his big brother, and giggling all along the way.
Jasper's babbling a lot, and trying to piece some words together, but so far, the only one we can make out is "thank you" or as he says it, "kake u" - either way, it's pretty sweet to hear. He mostly says it when you give him something or when he wants something (almost always food). And yes, his appetite is still going strong. I love that he's willing to try anything once (and usually several times again). Of course this also means getting him to spit several non-food items (mulch, tiny magnet letters, bottle caps, etc.) out during the day, but if it means he's an easy eater, I'll take it! Besides, a little styrofoam is good for your digestive system, right??
The little man is still a great sleeper, taking two naps and sleeping soundly at night. We went through a phase of lots of protesting at bedtime, but we stuck to our guns, and Jasper eventually realized that we weren't going to give in to the crying episodes. On the more pleasant side of things, he loves to smile and cock his head to the side when he wants to be cute. We spend lots of time rolling balls back and forth, clapping, and most recently, dancing (which, for Jasper, means rocking back and forth on his toes while Griff spins wildly around to the tune of "Apple Bottom Jeans").
All in all, it's been a wonderful year - we've loved seeing our little guy grow up and look forward to what the next year will bring :) Happy Birthday, J!
