Nine Months Old

Can you believe it? Jasper is nine months old already!

He's talking all the time now and loves to "chase" his big brother around while I hold him up. He's also trying to pull up on furniture or people or Dixie's tail - whatever's in reach! And he's starting to take a few steps when I hold his hands. He also gets super excited when we play pat-a-cake, and recently discovered how fun balloons can be after brother's birthday party :)

So far, Jasper has decided not to crawl, but he gets around by going from a sitting position to all fours, then back to a sitting position. He just repeats this motion and works his way around the room in circles - I'm always surprised how far he can get this way. I find him in the strangest places! The funniest lately was underneath the toddler trampoline Griff got for his birthday. J was so mad and hated being trapped under that trampoline, but he couldn't sit up anymore and couldn't figure out any other way to move :)

So far, the munchkin has one little tooth on the bottom, and it looks like a few more might be on their way soon. He's trying a few table foods now, enjoying lots of puffs and crackers.

He was a great patient at his nine month checkup with Dr. Mac this morning. He was in the 50% percentile for all measurements - 20 lbs 12 oz., 28.5 inches, and got lots of compliments for how well-behaved he was.

In fact, both boys got rave reviews from the staff at our pediatrician's office today. Griffin also had his 2 year checkup at the same time, and the nurses and doctor kept telling me what a wonderful patient he was. He sat quietly while they tested his vision, hearing, and blood pressure, and was happy to be measured (35 inches) and weighed (27.2 lbs) like a big boy this time.

I think the nurses were a little worried for me when they saw me bringing two very small boys in for appointments at the same time, but, as Dr. Mac told them, those Fitzhugh boys are always great at their checkups :)

Praise the Lord for healthy, happy, and easy-going children!

UPDATE:

I have to amend this blog post because, as anyone with kids knows, they are changing ALL THE TIME!!

Not two days after I posted this entry, Jasper decided to start crawling :) He can definitely get around now, although sometimes it's still easier to sit and cry for someone to pick him up than go searching for company. He's quite the social guy and never wants to be left out - good thing God gave him a built-in friend in his big brother!

  1. I don't think the nurses at our pediatrician office think quite the same of the Cross boys....they are probably always ready for us to leave!!! I don't think we get any behavior awards :(. Your boys are precious!!! Miss you!
